So this morning marked a momentous occasion: it was sort of kind of cooler out! Well, enough to where I felt a little chilly after taking off my cardigan. Fall doesn't usually come for us until early October, which makes me all kinds of sad. I love Fall, with its caramel apple cider, changing leaves, cinnamon smells, and of course, pretty Fall clothes.
This year, though, I'm saying goodbye to a well-loved item: my Old Navy black jacket. We've had three and a half good years together, but it's become a little ragged. For 30 bucks, I'm just glad it lasted this long.
The good news is I now have an excuse to search for a new jacket! Even better, since the weather is still pretty warm down here, most of the early Fall jackets will be on sale by the time I need one. Anthro has some great options I have my eye on, but first I'm going to jot down my criteria:
Not dressy, but not overtly casual. Let me first say that I really did love my Old Navy jacket, very comfy womfy. But since it was so cheap I...erm...may have abused it a little. I wore it all the time, especially when I was sick, and I wasn't afraid to sneeze on it (TMI, I know). I even slept in it a few times when it was really cold in the dorms. So this time I'd like to invest a little more money in my jacket, making it last longer and giving me more of an incentive to take care of it. I still have a budget, of course, and I'm only interested in buying on sale.
Dark Two reasons: Cream, neutral, beige, etc. all wash me out (as you've seen from the previous pictures, I'm paler than a snowman in a blizzard). Also they get really dirty in the city, and I'm not a high maintenance girl who'll dry clean her jackets every week. It doesn't have to be black, but if it's a color it should be a deep shade.
Other than that, I'm flexible. Here are a few that've caught my eye:
Elkanah Jacket (on sale for $70)
Casual and cute, and already on sale? I'm one happy girl! But is it too lightweight? Even in Charleston it can get pretty cold.
Cream Confection Jacket (black, $178)
This one looks much heavier and I love the ruffles! But will the wool be too itchy? And even on sale it'll be pricier than the first one.
Thoughts? Recommendations?
Have a great week!
