Wishlist Top 5 and a miiiiinor LSAT rant

Afternoon all! I'm currently at work, so this'll be a quick post, but it seems like it's already time to update my wishlist. I may have made a few...erm...shopping discretion in my post-LSAT fever. So now that I've crossed off a few items, it's time to update!

Also, can I just add that these last two weeks have gone by SO SLOWLY? Time doesn't just creep when you're waiting on the most important test results of your life (okay, well I can think of one other test that might be a little more important, but thank goodness I haven't had to take one of those ;)), it STANDS STILL! Please, please, please LSAC, don't make me wait until November 2nd! *puppy dog eyes*

Now that that's out of the way, onto the Top 5 (pics to come)!

5. Gardenia Epoch Cloche ($48)

Originally this spot was taken by the Finely Feathered Cloche, but I had the oppurtunity to try that one on in store and it made my mom lol. I don't mean just like a mild chuckle, I mean like scaring-the-other-customers loling. And I have to admit, it did look a little silly on me. Siiiiiiigh! But it's so beautiful!! I guess my head just isn't shaped for it.

Stranegly enough though, this hat was sitting next to it and it looked great on. Even though the reviews have been less than sparkling, which the FFC has five stars. Hooray for abnormally shaped heads!

4. Puckered Plaid Tights ($18)

Oh, I'm sorry, what's that? You're asking me where the Pointelle Tights went? Erm...well they're currently in transit to my mailbox :D. My mom wanted to buy me one small little tiny Anthro gift that I could wear now instead of waiting for Christmas, so she said she'd get me the tights after telling me that my gray boots "needed them" (yay!). We couldn't find them in the store and they sold out online, so I called CS and got them shipped for free! Here's hoping the m/l fits. I sized up as per the advice on EA, since I'm just under 5"6 and have really long legs.

I'm thrilled as can be...but that still doesn't move these pretty patterned tights from the Top 5 ;).

3. River Bow Necklace ($38)

Thankfully this didn't go on sale yesterday, as I was NOT ready to spend any more money and I'm reasonably sure it'll sell out quickly.

2. Curlytop Cardi ($50)

This, however, did go on sale. But I've been using the 99 trick to check the inventory online and even a day later there are still 99+ in my size. Do I detect the faint, alluring scent of a second cut? We'll see!

1. Cream Confection Jacket (neutral) ($178..ouch!)

Surprised? Me too. Just as I was about the leave my apartment for the beach, I noticed a lonely little item hanging on the back of my closet. My black P coat that I've had for years and is still perfectly good. I still want a jacket, but if I want to wear black I'll just wear that. Plus, when I got to the store, I saw that the details on the jacket showed up better in neutral than in black. The problem is, it's sold out online and I'm not sure it'll hit sale. Here's hoping I don't miss out!

Wow that turned out to be longer than I thought. Thankfully it's a slow day. Later days!

Review: Loosely Looped and Easy Keeper

Come on, you didn't think that's all I tried on, did you? Let's get on with the show!

Easy Keeper Skirt ($138)

I know this skirt hasn't been getting a lot of love from from the blogs, but it's getting lots of love from me! As much as preppy was disdained in my high school, I admit that my style is full of prep. I could never do the goth look that was popular...black lipstick is so 20th century.

Anyway.

From the outside the material was itchy, I'll admit, but with the lining I couldn't feel any of the itch. It was comfortable and thick enough to keep me warm in our mild Charlestonian winter. That little fact made me so happy, as I usually don't get to wear skirts and dresses without being miserably cold in November to March (hey, leave me alone, I was born in the South. I have no tolerance for cold). And the print was so cute, and the colors will go with a hundred things. I paired it with the Loosely Looped Tee (review below) and I really liked the way it looked. I took my usual 4 in pencil skirts and it fit perfectly. I get what the reviewers are saying about the waistband being disproportionate with the rest of the skirt (either too big or too small, depending on the skirt). The waistband was slightly too big on the skirt, but that's okay because I plan on tucking in shirts and like a little extra room so it doesn't look punchy. Wishlisted wishlisted wishlisted!

Loosely Looped Tee ($58)

I'm wearing an xs here and I can't decide. Is it too tight? I didn't think it was at the time, but looking at the pictures it seems like it's a bit snug.

It's important that I know what size to get, because I will be getting this one too. Le sigh. I can hear my wallet hissing angrily. The material is thin (though not sheer, thankfully), so I don't think it's worth full price. But look how cute and unique the neckline is! It's like I'm wearing a mini scarf! And I don't have any sort of long sleeved black shirt and I need to work on building up my solids. I'd say it's tts as I usually wear a xs in Anthro shirts, but again, it begs the question of tightness. Too tight?

Oh, I almost forgot! There was an Anthro sale this morning! Just as I suspected, the Curlytop Cardi did indeed go on sale, though thankfully nothing else on my wishlist did. There are still 99+ of them in the size and color I want, so I'm going to wait on this one. Who knows, maybe it'll get a second cut? Regardless, I need to feed my savings account for a bit, it's starving for affection!

TTYL!

Eh??? Ria bought something for herself at full price??

Yes you can believe the title.

Behold, the Bianka:

Please excuse the frump-tastic pairing. I'd never pair a flowy shirt with a flowy skirt (thank you Stacey and Clinton for teaching me that fashion don't!), but I didn't try on any pants to go with it.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I was a little disappointed when I couldn't find this shirt in the store, and I was too shy to ask the SAs if they had it in stock. My mom, however, is definitely not shy. She marched up to the register and loudly remarked she was looking for "something called a bee-annah-kah shirt." I could have died. Thankfully the SAs were nice about it and were able to point us in the direction of the blouse. I was originally looking for a 0, but decided to try the 2 since I heard the shoulders could be tight on broad shouldered gals (like moi).

Oh pretty, pretty blouse. I'll admit it's a teeny bit big in the bust, but I think it's okay to wear tunics a little loose. The shoulders fit well too and I'm afraid sizing down to a 0 would be a mistake in that area. The print is by far the best part (you'll hear me saying that a lot with Anthro) and I love how skinny it makes me feel. Even my arms, which normally I try to hide under cardis, felt more toned in this shirt!

What can I say? I had just taken the LSAT, I was weak, and I had saved a little spending money that was burning a hole in my pocket. Plus, I doubted that this top would go on sale any time this century (and since Anthro just released the new motif a few days ago, it looks like I was right).

Do I regret it? Absolutely not. I wore it that night to dinner, then again on Wednesday when Fall Break was over. I paired it with some khaki colored trousers and brown heels and felt like I was wearing pajamas.

Shopping pro-tip 1: You know an item is special when you occasionally open up your closet just to look at it. I still can't believe it's mine.

Although this was all I bought (thank goodness), I did try on a few more things, two of which I absolutely fell in love with and WILL be mine someday. One more tidbit of news: The word on Roxy's blog is that a mega Anthro sale is on the horizon! Please, oh Anthro goddess, nothing for me again this week!!!

Edit: Also, Goldenmeans is having a contest!!! First prize is a 200 dollar Anthro gift card, so what are you waiting for?? Get over there and enter!
Have a good night!

New Anthro Out and About (OOTD)

Didn't I tell you I loved this shirt? I've worn it before now of course, but this is the first complete outfit I made that was worth blogging about. That's what I love about the blogging world. I have so many lovely items, but I never knew how to tie them all together until I started reading the Anthro blogs. So, if any of you bloggers are reading this, thank you for all your amazing ideas! Hope you won't be too terribly mad at me if I steal a few ;).

Anthropologie Shirt: Once and Always Tee
Anthropologie Cardi: Field Game Cardi
Anthropologie Headband: Laurette Headband
Calvin Klein Jeans
Forever 21 Necklace
Belks Flats

Also this necklace is my first Forever 21 purchase ever, and I have to say I am IN LOVE! Not so much with their clothes as with their pretty, pretty and (best of all) REASONABLY PRICED accessories! They're building one on King Street about three feet from my dorm (uh oh...). While I'm thrilled, my wallet is not so pleased.

Have a great night!

Wish You Were Here Cardi and Once and Always Tee reviews

Midterms are over, the LSAT is destroyed, and I'm back with some reviews! How did it go? Well, I know one of my midterm grades (100, A+!)! Woot a doodle doo! The other one was a lot harder though, so we'll see. As for the LSAT, it went as well as I could have hoped for. I have no idea how I did and I think I'll drive myself crazy by guessing. With the LSAT it doesn't really matter how you did anyway, it matters how everyone else did (the LSAT is graded on a curve). Scores don't come out for two more weeks, so I'm gonna do a series of mini reviews to distract myself!

As you know, I went to Myrtle Beach's Anthro last weekend. Here's what I tried on (and, ehem, bought).

Wish You Were Here Cardi ($59):

I missed out on this cardi's extremely popular sister, Cartography Cardi, so when after scouring the sale room I squealed in delight when I found one of this season's version in my size. My arms are proportionally the biggest part of me (big arms run in my family) and I usually have to size up with cardis and jackets to a medium. So I took back a medium and a small (because there was only one of each and the sale room was super crowded and I didn't want either one to "disappear" while I was in the dressing room). Shock of all shocks, the medium was too big! I tried on the small and it was a perfect fit! The material is very soft, though definitely thin. I'm glad this cardi went on sale; no way was it worth $118. Some reviewers have lamented that it's short, but I have a short torso so I was okay with that. What really won me over was the print. Don't hate me, but I think this print might be prettier than Cartography's (*is shot*). The one thing that made me hesitate about Cartography was that my friend told me from far away its print looked like blue blotches. Wish You Were Here's print is a little more subtle, and so incredibly sweet. I'd love to try to make this work with my Airmail skirt! My mom offered to get me this for Christmas and I absolutely accepted! So, though I won't see it for a few more months, this cardi is mine!

Once and Always Tee ($30)

It's the Pop of Posies Halter all over again...

When I bought the Pop of Posies Halter, I had *just* put it on my wishlist for second cut consideration. I doubt I would have even bought it then; it just wasn't high on my radar. Then I saw it in store and thought "hm, might as well try on to see what size I need, just in case I do ever decide to buy it." Then I tried it on. And didn't take it off. Okay, yes I did take it off. But only for about ten minutes to walk to the register, then I walked out the door, into a bathroom, and put it back on again :D. I love this shirt.

I'll quickly get out of the way what I don't love: the edges look like they run the risk of getting frayed, so I'll have to be careful about wearing and washing.

Okay, now that that's done, what I do love: Everything else. Since I got this shirt in navy (charcoal? dark gray? smoke? what color is this exactly?), I didn't have the sheer problems the other colors had. It's modest enough to wear to work, the sizing is perfect (not too big, not too small), and it's not low cut. Since the color is dark and subtle, the ruffles on the front don't seem like too much (and I love playing with them!). The material is very soft, reminds me of my beloved sky climbing cowlneck that I wanted in navy too when it got a second cut but missed out on. All in all, just a fantastic tshirt that looks awesome under Wish You Were Here. I didn't want to wait for Christmas for this one so I bought it myself :). Hey, I just took the LSAT! I can have a post LSAT treat...

...or two :D. Yes I did buy one more thing. And this one I have no excuses for, I was bad, bad, bad. Two words: Full. Price. DU DU DUUUUUUM!

What was so pretty it made me break my "no full price" rule? Stay tuned!

Midterms, the LSAT, and Anthro, oh my!

Bonjour! Just dropping by to say that I won't be posting until this weekend, as I'm in the middle of midterms and I'm taking the LSAT on Saturday. BUT. I will make a post this weekend, and it will be stuffed full of Anthro reviews!!! Why is that? Well, as post-exam therapy I'll be going to Myrtle Beach and visiting my local Anthro. And I need to make this visit count since my "local" Anthro is 3 hours away. So I plan on trying on pretty much everything in the store :D. Pictures will be taken, reviews will be had, all that good stuff.

Also, for this weekend only I'm advertising a free "send Ria on a scavenger hunt" service! Since I never get to give back to the community, I'm going to try to look for any items that a community member asks me to look for, no matter how obscure. I can't promise I'll find anything and it'll only be that one store, but it's worth a shot right? So let me know the name of that special item you've got your heart set on and I'll do my best to find it.

Later days!

The Luckiest Girl (and an Outfit!)

So yesterday I thought it'd be fun to take some pictures of what I see on my daily walk (read: hike) to my internship. After looking them over, I'm truly convinced that I'm incredibly lucky to live here.

This is what I wore:

How much do I love mustard and teal together? Way too much. You'll see me repeat this outfit a lot, occasionally changing out the tanks.

Circle the Globe Skirt: Anthro
Pink tank: New York and Co.
Cardigan: New York and Co.
Snakebite Belt: Anthro
Shoes: Dillard's

And this is what I saw:

The view from lower King

The old Market

One of the many horse drawn carriage tours. I always feel so sorry for these horses, having to work in the heat. Thank goodness it was a coolish day.

Hurray!!! The only non insanely expensive shoe store on King Street! This is where I bought those lovely red heels I posted about.

The other day I overheard a little girl point to this store and say "Mommy, is that store for old ladies?" Tue story. Excuuuuse me, little girl, but I'm in my early twenties and I LOVE Talbots!

You know, I've always wondered how in the world we can have a Juicy, but not an Anthro. What's wrong with this picture, Chuck Town??

Hope you're having an awesome weekend!
